if you need to have more than 50 people on ignore, uninstall gw now. you clearly are not a people person and should not be playing mmo's.

I usually ignore people for a while then remove them. Seems to work for me. I've never had a full ignore list yet. Playing pvp more lately has caused me to add more to it though.
Would be nice to be able to add more friends though.

I play GW because I belong to a guild full of amazing and fun people who I enjoy talking to and playing with immensely. If I wasnt in the guild I am now, I doubt I'd be playing 10% of what I do now, given the pressures of work etc.

Doesnt mean I want to put with all the other retards out there.

I'd like also a 'temporary' ignore list, like the Trade and Party ones, so you can ignore just for one season and it doesn't need to be stored and taking room.

How to ignore someone: Do not respond to them. (note: sending them messages, going offline, or setting them to ignore when they are messaging you is responding to them)

They are trolls and they are looking for a response. By putting them on ignore you are telling them that you are irritated by them, asking them to continue. However, by simply not responding when they message, you are not giving them a response and they will move on to find a new and fun target.

I don't understand why people still haven't learned to deal with trolls.

Not signed. Someone else has probably said this already but just take people off after a while. Perhaps a few hours, I've never encountered someone who actually takes it to an extreme and carries it on longers then a day. If you need to ignore a full list of people every day then you should really look at your own behaviour and how you can fix it.

Not everyone that has people on ignore is doing something wrong.
There are people out there that have no life.
I have 7 names on perma ignore sad thing is that 5 of the names are the same person.
I have taken his name off ignore after a month and within a day I get many PMs. It gets annoying. And don't tell me to put it on dnd because I have people on my friends list that I DO want to talk to which I cant. Also cant just "not reply" to someone to get them to stop. This guy with 5 accounts is pathetic and will spam whisper making it very difficult to talk to others. The last 3 spots are for temp ignores which I use alot because of RA/TA another 10 slots of just temporary ignores would be fine.
These temp ignore slots can be like the recent team slots where it clears itself once you close out of GW.

Whatever you did to irritate the guy in the first place was what you did wrong. If you hadn't ignored him in the first place, it would have been over long ago.

Also, I guarantee that you are exaggerating the problem. Someone will not just keep sending whispers over and over for hours without any type of response. Well, that is unless they see this post and know the posting name in relation to in-game name; if this is the case you just fueled them even more.

Don't feed the trolls. Talking back always feeds them, whether in-game or posting on forums, any sign that you are being caused distress encourages them. Reporting them generally only encourages them, tempbans almost always encourage them. Ignoring them or going to dnd encourages them, it just usually makes them find a new target. This one has learned (and you let him learn) that you cannot stand even a few whisper spams (how you can make it through standing in LA or Kamadan I do not know). It is going to be much harder to deal with it now, but trust me if you just legitimately ignore him for a while he will go away.

EDIT: Oh wait, I'm sorry the especially worst thing to do is to put them on ignore or dnd then mock them. "reported," "ignored," or any other last second burn will do this. This is how you really give someone a vendetta.

Sorry, Reverend but you're wrong on this one. There's some really sick and disturbed people that exhibit behavior like in the post above yours. I never heard of any in GW but have come across a few both offline and online (strangely, it's mostly in MMO type games). Ignoring these seemingly rare types of people instead of cutting complete contact with them (online) often only escalates the situation further.

You also don't know the circumstances behind their case so there's no way to determine that they did anything "wrong" to irritate anybody. That's quite an egregious assumption.

1. I dont talk back when people like this whisper me and there ARE people like this.
2. I was not exaggerating at all so what do I get for your gaurantee?
3. And I can't stand LA or Kamadan which is why local and trade is always off.
4. Don't assume things, you know what they say about that.
5. I have "legitimately" ignored him he does NOT go away.
He started with the pms because I wouldnt respond in an RA match because as I said I keep local off and when he whispered me I didnt respond then because of the way he was talking. I dont deal with people like that.
So as I said I didnt do anything. And if you think that me not responding makes it my fault well...oh well. I play GW to have fun I shouldnt have to deal with people I dont want to deal with.

sure, why not? some people tend to make tons of enemies. this would in no way hurt the game. easy to do, useful for multiple people

First let me prefice this by saying Anet's ignore function is terrible. There is no reason what-so-ever to tell the person being ignored that they are being ignored.

And this is your problem. Your skin is far too thin to be on the internet. There will be spam and trash talking (especially in a competitive based game).

No you have not. I know trolls, I know the worst of them. I am one. My whole guild and its spur off guilds (well over 500 people at our peak) were trolls. He was not just sending empty whispers over and over without getting some sort of satisfactory response back from you.

If this is the exception, then this is the only exception. Sorry that you got the only person that gets set off for no reason and holds a vendetta for years.

Aha!

Unfortunately when you go online or play an online game you have to deal with the populous of that game. There are tons of people I don't want to have to deal with, but that is the way things are.

What I am trying to do is to get people to look at it from a different way. People that are more laid back or just able to let things pass over (Scf Blacknight's last post for example) have little trouble from others and no use for the ignore function. Conversly people that are high strung use it, and demand more: more policing, more attention, and more leeway for themselves.

This one is the only thing that you said that is correct. the rest is pure bs.

Because I dont want to watch mindless dribble in local chat does not make my skin to thin.
You know nothing about me.

Yes I have too. Only thing I did was put him on ignore after countless times of unwanted whispers. Dont act like you know everything that goes on.

LOL is all I have to say about that one. This is pure BS.
There are MANY people who have no lives and just like to stir shit up.
You obviously one of these you said it yourself.

Actually you DONT have to deal with anyone. Most games have options to turn chat off if you choose too.
I for one choose to not deal with stupid and annoying people which is why this will be the last response I give to you.
I am actually very laid back and I remain that way BECAUSE I choose to ignore these types of people. I have these people in my real life I play a game to get away from it and have fun. Who are you to tell me that I should just deal with these people? Nobody that is who.
More ways to not have to deal with them would not hurt anyone but could benifit actually.

Grow a pair, or GTFO my internet, seriously.

If you actually need more than 10 slots in this game when you have your Local -AND- Trade chat off at all times you are wound up WAY too tight or are way too thin-skinned to be online, especially in a free MMO.

I forget how absurd an idea it is in these modern times to have more than substandard expectations of people.

I keep local + trade off, usually because I'm engaging in PMs, and if I'm in a busy town, they scroll off the screen too quickly, or I may miss them because of the clutter. I don't think people who keep those off are necessarily anti-social scrooges. It simply is just mindless chatter that is 100% irrelevant to most people in the district.

As for the 10 slots, I have a person who own multiple accounts on one list, and that person takes up as many as 4 slots. Then there are other people who I simply do not wish to talk to, but if I ever take them off, they start spamming me again. Maybe I should increase my tolerance for 10-14 year olds? I dunno!
